BOLT THROWER were formed at a punk gig in a Coventry pub in 1986, following a conversation between friends guitarist Barry Thomson and bassist Gavin Ward. Inspired at that time by bands such as Sacrilege, Discharge, Candlemass & Slayer, they decided to form a band that was heavy, aggressive, but more importantly, original.
Over the last couple of years, Bolt Thrower have continued their ‘quality not quantity’ approach to playing live and that has definitely paid off. In 2010 they played a number of shows and festivals across Europe, and from playing more intimate underground shows (in keeping with their roots), they can also pull off playing to a festival crowd of 30,000 people. That’s why, as they reach their 25th Anniversary, Bolt Thrower are still at the top of their game… and as always, without compromise. Guest are Autopsy, Discharge, Benediction and Vallenfyre.

“I’ve been listening to this band Poliça from Minneapolis a lot lately. They’re the best band I’ve ever heard.”
Was für eine riesige Ehre diese Aussage für Poliça gewesen sein muss, kommt sie doch direkt von Justin Vernon, besser bekannt als Bon Iver, nach dessen Grammy Gewinn.

Das Debütalbum von Poliça “Give You The Ghost” erscheint am 11. Mai 2012 endlich auch in Deutschland.

Minneapolis scheint zur Zeit ein goldenes Pflaster für musikalische Talente zu sein. Poliça, ein erstes Projekt aus dem Gayngs-Kollektiv, liefert dafür den nächsten Beweis.
Die Band um die faszinierende Sängerin Channy Leanagh und Produzent Ryan Olsen begeistert allerorten mit ihrem cleveren “electronic pop-soul outfit”, das sich durch die 11 Songs des Debütalbums “Give You The Ghost” zieht und den Schnittpunkt zwischen Pop und digitalisiertem R&B neu definiert.
Ryan Olsens Feingefühl für Popmusik und elektronische Abenteuerlust entpuppten sich als ideale Unterstützung bei der Entwicklung Channy Leanagh zur ausdruckstarken, dynamischen Sängerin. Bemerkenswert ist wie zart, roh und emotionsgeladen Channy Leanaghs Stimme trotz der synthetischen und bewußten Entfremdung mit Auto-Tune die Songs dominiert und trägt. TIMBER TIMBRE

Timber Timbre ist ja eigentlich ein kanadisches Folk-Music-Projekt mit dem Frontmann und Songschreiber Taylor Kirk, der Violinistin Mika Posen und dem Gitarristen Simon Trottier. Etliche Male schon hat uns die Band als Trio live ziemlich erfreut, verstört, geschüttelt, gerockt, melancholisch gemacht und glücklich zurückgelassen.

Am 27. März kommt Timber Timbre nun endlich wieder nach Berlin. Dieses Mal allerdings für eine exklusive Soloshow von Taylor Kirk, die er zwar ausnahmsweise alleine performen wird, die aber mit Sicherheit nicht ohne all die magischen Songs der Band auskommen muss. Denen des jüngsten Albums „Creep On Creepin’ On“, darunter natürlich das wunderbar langsame, verzögerte Rockkabilly-Stück „BlackWater“, das fast schon zum Markenzeichen geworden ist, aber auch die nicht weniger wunderbaren der Vorgängeralben. Kirk wird mit seiner charismatisch warmen, hallenden Stimme singen, seine Gitarren spielen, seine Geschichten erzählen von Mördern und Hexen und Poltergeistern und Dämonen und Zauberpfeilen, seine Dramen von einer verfallenden Welt eben. Magisch wird es also allemal werden, magisch wird aber auch die Musik sein, die Kirk a.k.a. Timber Timbre spielen wird. Hölzern und alt wird es klingen, schön wird es werden und absolut wunderbar.
